Why Choose a Living Tree?

Many of our customers choose to celebrate the holidays with a living Christmas tree and continue to enjoy it for years to come. We carry a great selection of live trees at Swansons including native varieties and trees from around the world. Here are a few of the varieties available:

  • Noble Fir
  • Douglas Fir
  • Canaan Balsam Fir
  • Cupressina Norway Spruce
  • Narrow Colorado Blue Spruce
  • Contorta Eastern White Pine

Living trees can be kept indoors for only one week. Then they may either be planted outside in the garden or in an outdoor container after the holidays. Living trees require a little extra love when used indoors - download our living tree care sheet to learn more.

We also offer a unique program in partnership with King County Parks Department - A Gift That Grows - to donate trees to help with their efforts to build wildlife habitat and protect our local ecosystems. Purchase a living Christmas tree with the label "You Can Donate This Tree," bring it back to us by January 17, 2017, and we will donate your tree.

Want to help us plant donated trees this year? Join us for a volunteer restoration planting project on January 28th at Tolt-MacDonald park in Carnation, Washington. To volunteer, sign up at Swansons' info booth, email tina.miller@kingcounty.gov, or call (206) 477-6112.
